MEMORANDUM
TO: PLANNING COMMISSION
FROM: PAUL HARRINGTON, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
DATE: April 4, 1995
SUBJECT: VARIANCE - 7947 GREENFIELD AVENUE
DONALD HOSECK, PLANNING CASE NO. 406-95
Donald Hoseck, 7947 Greenfield Avenue, has made application for a
variance to allow the construction of a concrete driveway one (1)
foot from his property line where a five (5) foot setback is
required by Municipal Code. Currently, Mr. Hoseck's detached
garage is accessed by an asphalt and concrete drive.
The applicant has stated in his application that the reason for the
request is the existence of a drainage problem adjacent to the
existing driveway. The drainage problem appears to be somewhat
related to a City pathway which runs along the side of the
applicants property. The run-off from this pathway seems to pool
• along the property line and could be alleviated with the
installation of the proposed driveway.
Please note that Chapter 1104. 01 Subdivision 4 of the Mounds View
Municipal Code allows asphalt or gravel driveway surfaces within
one (1) foot of a side property line with the written permission of
the adjacent neighbor.
This item was originally scheduled to be heard by the Planning
Commission at the March 15, 1995 meeting. However, due to the
heavy snow we experienced during the week prior to that meeting,
Staff was unable to make a visual inspection of the property.
Therefore, Staff would ask that the Commission consider taking
action on this item at the Wednesday meeting as the delay was not
due to any action by the applicant. I have prepared a "boiler
plate" variance resolution which can be amended appropriately.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to phone.
•
