All <br /> signs shall-conform to the following standards. <br /> + 04 <br /> tea) _Construction specifications. All signs shall be <br /> constructed in accordance with the following: <br /> • <br /> 6, 1) the Minnesota State Building code; • <br /> 2)• all _electric signs -shall be approved and labeled <br /> • as conforming to the standards of the <br /> Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc., the United <br /> States.._.Bureau of standards or other similar <br /> institutions of • recognized standing. All <br /> illuminating elements shall be kept in • <br /> satisfactory_ working conditionor immediately <br /> repaired or replaced. , Signs that are partly <br /> illuminated shall meet 'all electrical requirements <br /> that.portion which is illuminated; <br /> 3} all permanent- freestanding signs shall have <br /> self-supporting structures erected on and <br /> permanently attached to concrete foundations; <br /> 4) • • for -wall signs, the wall must be designed for and <br /> have sufficient.strength to support the sign; and <br /> • 5) _signs •, 'shall be constructed to withstand the <br /> following wind loads: <br /> a. for solid.signs, 30 pounds per square foot on <br /> - : one face of the sign; and <br /> .b. for other signs, 36 pounds per square foot of <br /> the total face area of the letters and other <br /> sign surface, or 10 pounds per square foot of <br /> the gross area of the sign as determined by <br /> the overall dimensions of the sign, whichever <br /> is greater. <br /> b) sign Maintenance and Repair. All signs shall be <br /> y condition at all times, including the replacement of <br /> defective parts, cleaning and other items required for <br /> maintenance of the sign. Vegetation around, in front <br /> of, behind, and underneath the base of ground signs for <br /> distance of 10' shall be neatly trimmed and free of <br /> weeds, and no rubbish or debris that would constitute a <br /> fire or health hazard shall be permitted under or near <br /> the sign. <br /> • <br /> • <br />
