1008.01 1008.02 <br /> 411 Subd. 13. SIGN, DIRECTIONAL: A sign for the purpose of making specific <br /> commercial, industrial or public and semi-public locations known and to <br /> assist in finding these locations on the property which the sign is located. <br /> Subd. 14. SIGN, FLASHING: Any illuminated sign on which the artificial light <br /> is not maintained stationary and/or constant in intensity and color at all <br /> times when such sign is in use. <br /> Subd. 15. SIGN, IDENTIFICATION: A sign, the primary function of which is <br /> to identify a residential, commercial, industrial or public or semi-public <br /> use located upon the premises where such sign is located or to which <br /> such sign is affixed. Signs identifying commercial uses may call attention <br /> to the product, service or activity that is sold or offered upon the <br /> premises. Signs identifying industrial uses may call attention to the <br /> product, goods or material which is produced, processed, assembled or <br /> stored upon the premises. <br /> Subd. 16. SIGN, ILLUMINATED: Any illuminated sign on which the artificial <br /> light is maintained stationary and/or constant in intensity and color at all <br /> times when such sign is in use. <br /> Subd. 17. TEMPORARY SIGN: A sign so designed as to be movable from one <br /> location to another and which is not permanently attached to the ground, <br /> a sign structure or a building. <br /> • Subd. 18. WALL SIGN: A sign attached to or erected against the wall of a <br /> building or structure with the exposed face of the sign in a plane <br /> approximately parallel to the face of said wall. (1988 Code §39.01) <br /> 1008.02: BUILDING PERMIT REQUIRED; EXCEPTIONS: <br /> Subd. 1. Permit Required: It is unlawful to install, construct, erect, alter, revise, <br /> reconstruct or relocate any outdoor sign or structure, as defined in Section <br /> 1008.01 of this Chapter, in the Municipality without first obtaining a <br /> permit therefor as required by this Chapter, except as provided in <br /> subdivision 2 of this Section. (1988 Code §39.02) <br /> Subd. 2. Exceptions: Permits need not be obtained, but the other provisions of <br /> this Chapter shall be observed, for the following types of signs: <br /> a. A sign not exceeding ten (10) square feet in area, pertaining only to the <br /> sale, rental or lease of the premises upon which displayed. <br /> b.
