12 • <br /> letters, figures, or characters do not cover more than twenty five percent (35%) <br /> the area of such sign; provided, that in place of sheet metal, substitution may be <br /> made of the following materials; tempered pressed wood or other similar materiF <br /> approved by the Building Inspector, having equal properties as to strength, fire <br /> E. <br /> moisture resistance. <br /> c. No such sign shall be so placed as to prevent passage of persons from one <br /> part of the roof to another. <br /> d. The building or structure upon which such sign is placed and all <br /> attachments or fastenings must be so constructed as to safely resist the dead loac <br /> and the wind load added by the attached sign and in such a manner as not to cau: <br /> damage to the building or structure on which such sign is placed. <br /> e. No roof sign shall be more than sixty five(65') in length, nor shall it extend more <br /> than twenty five feet (25') above the surface of the roof of the building on which <br /> is located. No roof sign shall extend more than forty five feet(45') above the <br /> average ground level of that part of the street toward which it faces. <br /> Subd. 8 Wall Signs: The following standards must be maintained for all wall signs: <br /> a. No wall sign shall have a projection over a private sidewalk or an established <br /> building line of more than twelve inches (12"). <br /> b. The materials, construction and attachment of any such sign shall meet the same <br /> standards and requirements as roof signs. <br /> Subd. 9 Banners, Temporary or Portable Signs: Temporary signs, as defined in Section <br /> 1008.01 of this Chapter shall comply with the provisions of hereof. The following <br /> standards shall be maintained for all banners, temporary or portable signs: <br /> a. Temporary signs and banners attached to any building constructed of canvass, <br /> plastic material, cloth or other material with or without framework, shall be <br /> strongly constructed and shall be securely attached to their supports. They shall <br /> removed (including all framework and supports) as soon as damaged or torn and <br /> in no case later than twenty one (21) days after erection. <br /> b. Banners and temporary signs shall not be larger than one hundred twenty(120) <br /> square feet in area for each twenty feet (20') of building frontage. There shall no <br /> be more than one temporary sign on any building frontage. <br /> c. No banner or temporary signs shall project over public property or right of <br /> but may extend a maximum of six inches (6") from the face of the building. <br />
