• 7 <br /> b. All electric signs shall be approved and labeled as conforming to the standards of <br /> the Underwriters'Laboratories, Inc. the United States Bureau of Standards or <br /> other similar institutions of recognized standing. All illuminating elements shall <br /> be kept in satisfactory working condition or immediately repaired or replaced <br /> Signs that are partly illuminated shall meet all electrical requirements for that <br /> portion which is illuminated <br /> c. All permanent freestanding signs shall have self-supporting structures erected on <br /> and permanently attached to concrete foundations. <br /> d For wall signs, the wall must be designed for and have sufficient strength to <br /> support the sign. <br /> e. Signs shall be constructed to withstand the following wind loads: <br /> 1. for solid signs, 30 pounds per square foot on one face of the sign; and <br /> 2. for other signs, 36 pounds per square foot of the total surface, or 10 pounds <br /> per square foot of the gross area of the sign as determined by the overall <br /> dimensions of the sign, whichever is greater. <br /> • f. Each ground sign shall be securely built, constructed and erected on the - - - <br /> ground. Temporary signs shall be so designed that they are not readily <br /> overturned. <br /> g. No sign structure shall be attached or placed upon any building in such a <br /> manner as to obstruct any fire escape or any window or door nor shall any <br /> sign structure be attached to a fire escape. <br /> h. No sign erected before the effective date hereof shall be rebuilt, altered or <br /> removed to a new location without being brought into compliance with the <br /> requirements hereof. <br /> i. No swinging sign shall hereafter be erected or hung on or attached to any <br /> building within the Municipality, and every such sign so erected. Hung or <br /> attached prior to the effective date hereof which is deemed unsafe by the <br /> Building Inspector shall be immediately removed by the owner thereof or <br /> changes to conform with the requirements of this Chapter when so ordered <br /> by the Building Inspector. <br /> j. Where portions of a sign are subject to a different classification, each <br /> portion shall meet the requirements of a classification. <br /> • <br /> k.
