• <br /> 12 • <br /> a. All portions of projection signs shall be designed for a wind pressure of not <br /> less than thirty(30) pounds per square foot. <br /> b. Such signs shall not project over public street right of way but may project <br /> over sidewalks located on private walks. No such sign shall be less than twelve <br /> feet (12') above the level of the sidewalk; provided that such signs which do not <br /> exceed four(4) square feet and which do not project more than two feet (2') over <br /> the sidewalk may be eight feet(8') or more above the sidewalk. No projection sign <br /> shall project beyond a curb line nor project more than eight feet (8') over any <br /> private sidewalk. <br /> c. There shall be no more than two feet (2') of space between the inner edge <br /> of any such sign and the face of the wall from which it projects, nor shall <br /> the outer edge of the sign be more than eight (8') from the face of the wall. <br /> d. The building or structure from which any such sign projects and all <br /> attachments or fastenings must be so constructed as to safely resist the <br /> dead load and wind load added by the attached sign. <br /> e. All such signs shall be of noncombustible materials or of not less than one <br /> hour of fire-resistive construction..: <br /> Subd. 7 Roof Signs: The following standards shall be maintained for all roof signs: <br /> a. No roof sign shall be located nearer than five feet (5')for the outside wall toward <br /> which it faces nor exceed twenty five feet (35') in height above the roof level of <br /> the building unless constructed integral with the building or structure, nor shall it <br /> project beyond the edge of said roof in any direction. <br /> b. Every such sign shall be either metal, metal clad, incombustible, open wire or open <br /> metal sign; except, that such sign may have letters, figures, characters or borders <br /> of wood if such borders do not exceed four inches (4") in width and such wooden <br /> letters, figures, or characters do not cover more than twenty five percent (25%) of <br /> the area of such sign; provided, that in place of sheet metal, substitution may be <br /> made of the following materials; tempered pressed wood or other similar materials <br /> approved by the Building Inspector, having equal properties as to strength, fire and <br /> moisture resistance. <br /> c. No such sign shall be so placed as to prevent passage of persons from one <br /> part of the roof to another. <br /> d. The building or structure upon which such sign is placed and all • <br /> attachments or fastenings must be so constructed as to safely resist the dead load <br />
