Building Height: Height limitations shall be the same as imposed in the <br />respective districts. <br /> <br /> <br />This apparent inconsistency was discovered when the City processed the Mermaid Planned <br />Unit Development. There had been some discussion of a taller hotel and there are still plans <br />for a possible expansion. Rather than preclude such an expansion where appropriate, staff <br />supports adding language to the Code which simply reaffirms the intent and purpose of the <br />Code. <br /> <br />The proposed amendment was presented to the Mounds View Planning Commission on <br />January 5, 2005. The Commission recognized the need to resolve the inconsistency and <br />adopted a resolution which supported the amendment as present in the attached ordinance. <br />The Commission’s resolution is attached for the Council’s reference. <br /> <br />As such, Staff and the Planning Commission recommend adding the following underlined <br />language to Subd. 12 of Section 1120.02: <br /> <br />Subd. 12. Building Height: Height limitations shall be the same as imposed in the <br />respective districts unless additional height or stories would serve a better <br />purpose consistent with the stated intent of this Chapter. <br /> <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Review the proposed amendment and direct staff accordingly.
