Twin Cities North Chamber of Commerce 4 <br /> 5 <br />Jim Witkowski, Gambling Manager for the Twin Cities North Chamber of Commerce, stated 6 <br />they run two pulltab booths at Jakes in Mounds View and Jakes in New Brighton. He stated that 7 <br />there are approximately 420 members in the Chamber. He stated that the Chamber had provided 8 <br />approximately $150,000 back to the trade area community. He stated that they have more 9 <br />requests for money than they are able to provide. He stated that in the listing it did not have 10 <br />August contributions totally $27,000, which was an error. He stated that they give to a diverse 11 <br />number of organizations, focusing on humanitarian, food shelves, homeless shelters, senior 12 <br />projects, and children’s sporting activities. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Mayor Marty stated that he had noticed contributions to the Cities of Arden Hills, Spring Lake 15 <br />Park, and Fridley, and he asked what these were for. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Mr. Witkowski stated that these were for community festivals, and his recollection was that 18 <br />Mounds View did not have a city festival last year. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Council Member Gunn stated that they did have one, but they hadn’t asked them for a 21 <br />contribution. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Mayor Marty stated that they would ask for one this year. He asked what the check was for to the 24 <br />City of New Brighton for $1,000. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Mr. Witkowski stated that it was for Christmas socks for New Brighton Family Services, but the 27 <br />check had been made payable to the City of New Brighton. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Council Member Flaherty stated that there were no contributions reported for January and 30 <br />February, and he asked if those had been reported to the New Brighton Chamber of Commerce. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Mr. Witkowski stated that they had gone to giving contributions four times per year to improve 33 <br />their efficiency. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Council Member Flaherty asked if Sunrise United Methodist Church was the only church 36 <br />requesting funds. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Mr. Witkowski stated that that wasn’t actually for the church, and it was for a food shelf 39 <br />involving growing and slaughtering cows, and that they stay away from religious giving. 40 <br /> 41 <br />3. Mounds View Lions 42 <br /> 43 <br />Jerry Gammell, 5080 Longview Drive, stated that he has been a Mounds View Lion for 14 years, 44 <br />and has worked on the Gambling Committee for ten years.
