The Parks and Recreation Commission spent several months
visiting and reviewing all of the City’s parks to identify any problems and
deficiencies. Based on this review, the Commissioners created a list of “needs”
for the parks. On June 26, 2003 the needs list was categorized into three
categories:
A. Maintenance (do now)
B. Budget (budgeted items for 2004, 2005, or 2006)
C. Long Term (add to Capital Improvement Program)

Each category was then carefully reviewed and prioritized.

In the fall of 2004, the Parks and Recreation Commission reviewed the
previously approved Parks Needs analysis and provided recommendation on
several minor revisions and updates. On October 28, 2004, the Parks and
Recreation Commission completed the update of the Parks Needs Analysis.
Final approval by the Commission occurred on February 24, 2005. This is
attached for review.

Discussion:
At the February 24, 2005 Parks and Recreation meeting, the Commissioners
made a motion to submit a final list to the City Council and recommend it for
approval and inclusion in the 2005 Budget and Capital Improvement Program.
This list included items that were included in the 2005 budget. It also included
items that were budgeted in 2004 but were not installed. The following is a list of
these recommended park improvement items:
