Mounds View City Council March 28, 2005 <br />Regular Meeting Page 11 <br /> <br />Mayor Marty stated it could be, but different haulers provide different services. 1 <br /> 2 <br />Mr. Jahnke stated maybe it could be done cheaper if there was one hauler doing every house on 3 <br />every street. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Mayor Marty stated that the hauler that they may choose might not provide the services that 6 <br />you’ve grown accustomed to, and he believes in competition. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Council Member Thomas stated that she knows of several places where it’s more expensive, and 9 <br />they are trying to get rid of it, but because of contract issues, it’s very difficult. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Council Member Stigney stated he was opposed to a single hauler, especially with the 12 <br />government involved in it. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Mayor Marty stated that it was unfortunate that Larry’s Sanitation had sold out because he had 15 <br />performed many services for the residents of Mounds View. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Bill Syrix, 2210 Pinewood Drive, stated he would strenuously oppose having one hauler. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Mayor Marty closed the public hearing. 20 <br /> 21 <br />MOTION/SECOND. Gunn/Flaherty. To waive the reading and adopt Ordinance 758, an 22 <br />Ordinance Limiting Garbage Pickup to Thursdays only. 23 <br /> 24 <br />ROLL CALL: (Marty/.Stigney/Gunn/Flaherty/Thomas) 25 <br /> 26 <br /> Ayes-5 Nays-0 Motion carried. 27 <br /> 28 <br />B. 7:10 p.m. Public Hearing to Consider Resolution 6484, a Resolution 29 <br />Pertaining to an Interim Use Permit for a Temporary Membrane Structure 30 <br />at the Mermaid Banquet and Entertainment Center. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Director Ericson stated that this item was to request to have a temporary outdoor membrane 33 <br />structure at the Mermaid in order to have a more informal setting for outdoor events and 34 <br />receptions. He stated the City Council had adopted Ordinance 735, which lists the regulations to 35 <br />be associated with outdoor temporary structures, and there are a number of conditions that would 36 <br />have to be met, and this structure does satisfy all of those regulations. He stated that the 37 <br />Planning Commission recommends approval for the interim use permit for a five year period, and 38 <br />the applicant has no problem with that. He stated the resolution includes a route to bring this 39 <br />back to the Council if there are any issues at any time during the five year period. He stated that 40 <br />the membrane is allowed to be there for 180 days out of the year. He stated that notice was sent 41 <br />to property owners within 350 feet. 42 <br /> 43 <br />Mayor Marty opened the public hearing. 44 <br /> 45
