Resolution 6551 Authorizing Severance Payment for Sergeant Jerry Johnson. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Administrative Assistant Crane stated that Sergeant Jerry Johnson retired effective May 31, 2005. 21 <br />She stated that a resolution is attached authorizing severance payment to Sergeant Jerry Johnson 22 <br />adding that the payments are in accordance with the Mounds View personnel manual and the 23 <br />LES labor agreement. She stated that the resolution provides a cash payout of Mr. Johnson’s 24 <br />vacation time of $1,118.76, calculated at 54.65 accrued vacation hours times his hourly rate. In 25 <br />addition the resolution also provides a cash payout for his sick time and in accordance with 26 <br />Article 22 of the LES Sergeants Labor Contract he is eligible to contribute 65-percent of his 27 <br />accumulated and banked sick leave for contribution to the Employee Retirement/Health Savings 28 <br />Plan. She stated that this is calculated as 2,168.73 accrued banked sick hours times 65-percent, 29 <br />times his hourly rate of $33.28 and comes to $46,914.16, to be contributed to the Employee 30 <br />Retirement/Health Savings Plan. Staff recommends severance payment and contribution to the 31 <br />Retirement/Health Savings Plan for Sergeant Jerry Johnson in accordance with the City 32 <br />personnel manual and LES labor agreement. 33 <br /> 34 <br />City Clerk/Administrator Ulrich pointed out that they did change the retirement plan and this is a 35 <br />relatively high in terms of what would be seen in the future. With the new contract they did cap 36 <br />it at 960 hours and put the amount at 50-percent versus 65-percent for all employees who are 37 <br />currently under 960 hours. He explained that some of the employees were grandfathered in with 38 <br />the police and sergeants, Mr. Johnson being one of them. He stated that from now on severance 39 <br />payment should be less. 40 <br /> 41 <br />MOTION/SECOND. Gunn/Thomas.
