SION, <br /> AND <br /> WHEREAS, THE EDC HAS REVIEWED THE ECONOMIC ADVANTAGES AND <br /> DISADVANTAGES OF LOCATING A I 6-SCREEN MOVIE THEATER AND THREE OFFICE BUILDINGS THAT <br /> • <br /> IS PROPOSED FOR THE VACANT LAND LOCATED IN SECTION 7 OF THE PROPOSED HIGHWAY I 0 <br /> REDEVELOPMENT PLAN, AND <br /> • <br /> WHEREAS, THE EDC FINDS THAT THE PROPOSED USE WOULD INCREASE THE <br /> COMMERCIAL TAX BASE OF THE CITY BY APPROXIMATELY $ I 00,OCO; ADD NEW FULL <br /> PART TIME JOBS AND CREATE A LARGE MULTIPLIER EFFECT BY BRINGING NEW CUSTOMERS TO THE <br /> AREA. AND <br /> • <br /> WHEREAS, THE EDC VIEWS THIS DEVELOPMENT AS BENEFICIAL TO THE OVERALL <br /> ECONOMIC LIVELIHOOD OF THE COMMERCIAL BUSINESSES ALONG HIGHWAY I 0 AND WILL IMPROVE <br /> THE CHARACTER AND VISION OF THE CORRIDOR; AND <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br /> COMMISSION HEREBY SUPPORTS THE DEVELOPMENT OF A 16-SCREEN MOVIE THEATER AND <br /> OFFICE BUILDINGS FOR SECTION 7 OF THE PROPOSED HIGHWAY I 0 REDEVELOPMENT PLAN. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE ECONOMIC <br /> DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION RECOMMENDS TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION THE APPROVAL OF A <br /> ZONING CHANGE FOR THE PROJECT. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT EVEN FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE ECONOMIC <br /> DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION RECOMMENDS THAT THE CITY SUPPORT WORKING TOWARDS APPROVAL <br /> • <br /> FCR A SIGNALIZED INTERSECTION FOR THE PROJECT BUT NOT MAKE THE ZONING CHANGE <br /> CONTINGENT UPON RECEIVING APPROVALS FROM THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF <br /> TRANSPORTATION FOR THE STOP LIGHT. <br />
