• Staff Memo
To: Economic Development Commission Members
From: Cathy Bennett, Economic Development Coordinator
Date: August 17, 1994
Agenda Item: Election of President, Vice President, Secretary
As a requirement of the Municipal Code, Chapter 408.07, Subdivision 1, Economic
Development Commission, Organization, the Commission is required to appoint a
chairperson and vice chairperson at the first regular meeting. In addition, the
Municipal Code allows the Commission to create and fill other offices from the
members of the Commission.
•
Chairperson:
The chairperson is subject to the approval of the Authority with a term of one year.
General duties of the chairperson include facilitating the Economic Development
Commission meetings, notify Authority of vacancies, call special meetings, and
mediate conflicts which disrupt the effectiveness of EDC meetings.
Vice Chairperson:
The vice chairperson is voted in by the Commission and is not required to be
approved by the Authority. The vice chairperson assumes the responsibilities of the
chairperson in his/her absence.
Secretary:
It has been the suggestion of City Staff to recommend that each commission assign a
secretary to take the minutes of each regular scheduled meeting. This allows staff to
address questions regarding city procedures and commission activities. Upon the
closure of the meeting, city staff will prepare the minutes for distribution to all
commission members. The term of secretary shall be for one year and is done by a
vote of the Commission members.
Nominations for appointment of the above officers will be requested at the August
• 25th meeting with a vote to follow. The President appointment will be put before the
EDA at the September 12, 1994 meeting.
