Review MCDA Commercial/Industrial Development & Small Business Assistance Programs: In the future it will be important to develop some business programs for the attraction and retention of targeted industries for Mounds View. The attached outlines some of the programs offered by the Minnesota Community Development Agency for the City of Minneapolis. Not all of these programs would apply to Mound View but they are a good start in researching potential structuring of an incentive program. These items are for discussion and no action is required at this time. B. Economic Development Authority Bylaws and List of Members Per your request, attached is the Economic Development Authority Bylaws and list of members. The EDA is a seperate corporation that holds seperate office and has seperate functions and powers of the Council. The Bylaws were amended to develop a consistent meeting day. The Authority has a work session in conjunction with the Council work session on the first Monday of each month. EDA meetings are held on the second Monday of each month after the Council meeting. C. Establishment of a Marketing Task Force For your information, another Focus 2000 recommendation was to increase the image of the City of Mounds View to both new and current residents and businesses. To accomplish this, it was determined to establish a community driven Marketing Task Force. The adoption of the task force was approved on by the EDA on Sept. 12th. The City is accepting applications to serve on the task force. If you have anyone in mind that has a marketing background let me know. The task force is expected to begin meeting in October. •
