ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION • <br /> 1994 WORK PLAN <br /> Mission Statement: <br /> The Economic Development Commission shall serve as an advisory body to the Economic <br /> Development Authority to promote a positive economic climate, which retains and expands <br /> existing businesses, attracts desirable new businesses, and revitalizes the community. <br /> Action Steps: <br /> 1 . Begin Updating Mounds View 1986 Economic Development Plan. <br /> 2. Begin to develop a long range strategic plan for the redevelopment of Highway 10. <br /> • Complete an inventory of properties on Highway 10 to include the <br /> following: <br /> -* zoning status - proposed change <br /> -9 current use - future use <br /> -� activity and property condition <br /> • Evaluate long and short term uses and recommend changes <br /> • Research and recommend financing mechanism for redevelopment <br /> 3. Develop a list of targeted industries for future economic development programs. <br /> 4. Research Innovative Programs of Other Metro Area Cities as it relates to development, <br /> redevelopment and housing rehabilitation. <br /> 5. Monitor responses and findings of the North Metro Business Retention and <br /> Development Commission Program. <br /> 6. Begin evaluating Development Design Standards for new development and <br /> redevelopment in the City. <br /> 7. Initiate the adoption of a Tax Increment Financing Policy to include Fundability <br /> Guidelines. <br /> 8. Actively Participate in retention calls to local businesses. <br /> 9. Communicate on a regular basis with the public on the Economic Development <br /> Commission activities, encouraging written or verbal comment, through the City <br /> Newsletter, cable and other interactive avenues. <br />
