Staff Memo
To: Economic Development Commission Members
From: Cathy Bennett, Economic Development Coordinator
Date: March 16, 1995
Agenda Item: Discussion of Strategies to address findings of the North
(5.B.) Metro Business Retention and Development Survey (BRE)
I have summarized several different parts of the BRE survey but have not thoroughly
analyzed the data as a whole. Attached is a summary of Part I of the survey. Please
review the attached Part I questionnaire and summary to see if there is any other
information that should be reviewed.
I have yet to summarize Part II and the industry supplements. I have attached a copy
of these parts for your review. Ask yourself the following questions. Which questions
should we summarize? What information would be most useful for the EDC to
evaluate?
The easy part of the survey is the summary. The hard part is what to do with the
information and how to communicate our efforts in addressing the findings back to
the businesses . One suggestion is to have a reception whereby results of the survey
are outlined and proposed programs/policy decisions are introduced to address the
issues and needs revealed.
•
