Call to Order: <br /> The meeting was called to order at 5:55 p.m. by Chairperson, Phil Seipp. <br /> 2. Roll Call: <br /> Members present were as follows: Rosemary Goff, Delane Welsch, Dan Nelson, Phil Seipp and Ron <br /> Schmidt. In addition, Economic Development Coordinator Cathy Bennett was present. EDC Member <br /> Peg Mountin and EDA Liaison Sue Hankner were absent. <br /> 3. Approval Of Minutes: <br /> There were no minutes for approval <br /> 4. Special Business <br /> • Discussion of the Community Connections Committee <br /> Susie Kaiser, volunteer for the Mounds View School District, gave an overview of the <br /> Community Connections Committee which was established to evaluate the City and Districts <br /> need for additional school and community facilities. Ms. Kaiser posed several questions to the <br /> members of the EDC regarding what programs and services are available now and what <br /> additional services are needed, what facilities could accommodate the additional services and <br /> where would this facility(es) be located and what don't we want. <br /> The EDC felt that the City should not participate in any operation that would directly compete <br /> with private business and that the use of tax increment funds should be focused to commercial <br /> development and redevelopment purposes. <br /> Presentation on North Metro Business Retention and Development Commission Phase II <br /> Program <br /> Joseph Strauss of Community Resource Partnership gave a slide presentation regarding the <br /> North Metro Business Retention and Development Commission's work plan for 1996. The <br /> presentation included a brief overview of results from the first survey process which included <br /> 3600 businesses. The work plan for 1996 includes two parts of which all participating Cities <br /> receive the services in Part I and each community is allowed to chose two of 15 options in part <br /> II. Mr. Strauss explained that Mounds View participation would approximately be $2000 for <br /> 1996. <br /> • <br /> 1 <br />
