• PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> MEMO <br /> To: Mounds View Planning Commission, <br /> From: Rick Jopke, Community Development Director <br /> Subject: Comprehensive Plan Land Use Element <br /> Date: July 10, 1998 <br /> At the July 1, 1998 meeting the Planning Commission began its discussion of the land use <br /> element of the comprehensive plan. A good discussion of the housing plan portion of the land <br /> use element occured. Staff will finalize the housing plan for inclusion in a draft land use element <br /> for future commission action. <br /> At the July 15, 1998 meeting discussion of the land use element will continue. It is suggested <br /> that the commission have a detailed discussion of existing and future land use in Mounds View. <br /> To assist with the discussion I have included in your packet copies of the current comprehensive <br /> plan map, the current zoning map, and an existing land use map. I have also included a set of <br /> • land use definitions which was developed by the I35W corridor coalition. The existing land use <br /> map is based on these definitions. The future land use map should be based on these definitions, <br /> to the extent possible. <br /> STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br /> Staff recommends that the Planning Commission review the attached maps and definitions and <br /> be prepared to discuss what land use changes are necessary in the future.
