Adding a porch on to the rear(west)of the home is impossible because it <br /> would deny the homeowner convenient access, as this is where all the bedrooms are <br /> located. Access would mean going through a bedroom. On the south side of the house is <br /> the garage; there is no way to add a porch on there. Finally,to the front(east), the house <br /> is currently at a 32' setback,thus not allowing any additional room to add on. That <br /> leaves us with the north side. <br /> Currently, there is a 10' X 12' deck off the existing dining room. The Leons propose to <br /> add on a 10' X 12' porch(the exact size of the existing deck),thereby not encroaching <br /> any further towards the north property line than currently exists. <br /> It is our understanding that Mounds View zoning code allows a 5' side yard set back for a <br /> deck, but a minimum of a 10' sideyard set back for finished space.
