Resolution 6540, Approving a Comprehensive Land Use Amendment for The 21 <br />Bridges of Mounds View Golf Course Site. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Director Ericson stated that this is something that originated back in 2003 when the City rezoned 24 <br />the property from public facilities designation to industrial. He explained that Minnesota Statues 25 <br />indicate that the Comprehensive Plan and zoning should be consistent with each other noting that 26 <br />earlier this year, in January, the City Council directed the Planning Commission to review the 27 <br />designation of the golf course and come up with an amendment that would be appropriate given 28 <br />the zoning of the property and the possible future reuse of the property. He stated that in 29 <br />February 2004 the Planning Commission adopted a resolution, which would recommend the 30 <br />office designation as the appropriate land use. He stated that subsequent to the Planning 31 <br />Commission recommendation the amendment was forwarded to the Metropolitan Council, who 32 <br />took significant time to review the amendment and found issues associated with other agencies 33 <br />including transportation issues. He noted that at the same time the City was going through the 34 <br />AUAR process on the same land, so they were looked at in the same light in terms the potential 35 <br />impacts. He stated that on April 27th the Metropolitan Council did recommend and approve the 36 <br />Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use Amendment to office. He stated that the City held a 37 <br />public hearing on May 23, 2004 and there is a resolution before Council that would effectuate the 38 <br />change from outdoor sport/recreation and passive outdoor to office. He stated that this is 39 <br />something that could be acted on regardless of what happens with the Medtronic project and is 40 <br />something that is necessary based on the fact that the City rezoned the property in 2003.
