Mounds View City Council August 22, 2005 <br />Regular Meeting Page 24 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Rodger McCombs stated Medtronic has addressed this several times. He stated that Medtronic is 2 <br />not interested in golf courses but in the development of life saving products. He stated they will 3 <br />not have a golf course. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Mr. Jahnke stated SYSCO got TIF and are now adding on and getting another round of TIF 6 <br />financing. He stated he does not understand why it is a question with Medtronic because there is 7 <br />nothing wrong with it and was “played out in real” tonight with SYSCO. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Mr. McCarty stated there is a big difference between a $235,000 TIF project and one that is about 10 <br />$32 million. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Mayor Marty closed the Public Hearing at 11:06 p.m. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Councilmember Thomas stated the only outstanding question related to the FAA and that 15 <br />information has now been received by staff. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Mayor Marty stated previously the plan was for six stories and asked when the eight-story 18 <br />building was approved. Director Ericson stated the request was sent out three to four weeks ago 19 <br />to get authorization from the FAA. The FAA has provided assurance that the eight-story 20 <br />buildings at a specified height of 140 feet was acceptable as of today. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Mayor Marty asked what was the original height. Director Ericson stated he does not know what 23 <br />the FAA originally approved. 24 <br /> 25 <br />Chris Carda, RLK_Kuusisto, LTD stated it was originally approved at 85 feet. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Mayor Marty noted the height also includes air conditioning units. 28 <br /> 29 <br />MOTION/SECOND. Thomas/Stigney. To waive the reading and adopt Resolution 6592 30 <br />Approving the Medtronic Planned Unit Development (PUD) General Concept Plan; Planning 31 <br />Case No. PD2005-002. 32 <br /> 33 <br />Councilmember Stigney questioned the first WHEREAS and if it should be changed from 72 34 <br />acres to 72.2 acres. Director Ericson stated staff would make that correction. 35 <br /> 36 <br /> Ayes-4 Nay-1 (Marty) Motion carried. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Director Ericson stated that more detailed plans of the development will be submitted the first 39 <br />week in September and reviewed by the Planning Commission for their recommendation. 40 <br /> 41 <br />Mayor Marty commented that an eight-story building height will be of more benefit to Mounds 42 <br />View than a six-story height in relation to limiting air traffic. 43 <br /> 44 <br />D. 7:20 p.m.: Public Hearing and Consideration of Resolution 6594A, a 45
