She noted there had been discussion with him at the work 1 <br />session and whether we were at that stage. The Council had decided to give him a chance and 2 <br />see where we are at in a couple months. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Councilmember Stigney stated this thing will never work so why not give him 100 or 120 days 5 <br />notice. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Councilmember Gunn stated she prefers to give Mr. Dodds a chance 8 <br /> 9 <br /> Ayes-4 Nay-1 (Stigney) Motion carried. 10 <br /> 11 <br />L. Resolution 6606 Resolution Supporting the Improvements to Springbrook 12 <br />Nature Center Associated with the SPRING (Sanctuary Protection & 13 <br />Renewal into the Next Generation) Project and Supporting the Request to 14 <br />the State of Minnesota for Financial Assistance 15 <br /> 16 <br />Administrative Assistant Crane advised that the voters in the City of Fridley approved a 17 <br />$275,000 referendum in November of 2004 to continue programming and City-paid staff at 18 <br />Springbrook Nature Center. The Springbrook Nature Center is a 127-acre park City of Fridley 19 <br />park that provides year-round opportunities to experience and learn about nature and is an 20 <br />environmental education center that serves school groups, community organizations and families. 21 <br />She advised that the Mayor of Fridley is asking neighboring communities to support the 22 <br />foundation in achieving a State grant by submitting a resolution of support. The Springbrook 23 <br />Nature Center is now making a request for a $2.5 million matching State grant. The Springbrook 24 <br />Nature Center Foundation has initiated a fundraising campaign to complete this matching grant 25 <br />to reach their $5 million goal for capital improvements at Springbrook Nature Center. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Mayor Marty noted this does not cost Mounds View anything and has been a hard fought fight by 28 <br />area residents. He stated Mounds View residents have also supported it with signs in their lawns. 29 <br /> 30 <br />MOTION/SECOND. Marty/Thomas. To waive the reading and adopt Resolution 6606 31 <br />Supporting the Improvements to Springbrook Nature Center Associated with the SPRING 32 <br />(Sanctuary Protection & Renewal into the Next Generation) Project and Supporting the Request 33 <br />to the State of Minnesota for Financial Assistance. 34 <br /> 35 <br /> Ayes-5 Nays-0 Motion carried. 36 <br /> 37 <br />M. Resolution 6585 Approving a Severance Package for Regular Full-time Golf 38 <br />Course Employees 39 <br /> 40 <br />City Administrator Ulrich reviewed that this item was previously reviewed by the City Council at 41 <br />the July 5th work session and the August 8th regular session. He stated a question was asked 42 <br />about the flex time balances. He noted the severance provision proposed and sick leave, as 43 <br />outlined in the severance policy, that flex time be allowed to play itself out for each employee 44 <br />and that be their termination date so they will be able to use the flex time.
