Update of the NW Area Library Taskforce 1 2 Director Ericson provided an update on the Northwest Area Library Taskforce meeting of 3 September 15, 2005. He advised that several Mounds View, Arden Hills, and New Brighton 4 residents were in attendance. He indicated he had presented information on the community and 5 several residents asked what the City’s position would be or is with regard to the Mounds View 6 Branch Library – to keep it open or have a more regional based library system. 7 8 Director Ericson stated he explained to everyone in attendance that the City would work with the 9 Library Board and Task Force. However, the Council supports the Mounds View Branch Library 10 and would like to see it remain in place. Another meeting is scheduled on September 28, 2005, 11 at the New Brighton Family Service Center at 7 p.m. He stated it would be good to have City 12 representation at that meeting. 13 14 6. National Association of Industrial and Office Properties Survey 15 16 Director Ericson distributed information on the survey from the National Association of 17 Industrial and Office Properties of metro cities. The survey asked this question: “What would it 18 take in local fees and processing time to develop this building.” Seventy-nine cities responded 19 and surprisingly, for the most part, Mounds View is where other communities are with regard to 20 fees in building and plan review. In other areas, Mounds View is very far below what other cities 21 are charging. He stated this survey is enlightening and if he has time he will provide a summary 22 of where Mounds View ranks when compared to the other cities. 23 24 Finance Director Beers stated he attended an MGFOA seminar on fees and their caution was the 25 fees are to be based on the cost of the service, not what other cities are charging. 26 27 C.
