Item No. 1C <br />Meeting Date: October 3, 2005 <br />Type of Business: WK <br />WK: Work Session; PH: Public Hearing; <br />CA: Consent Agenda; CB: Council Business <br />City Administrator Review _______ <br /> City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Greg Lee, Director of Public Works <br /> <br />Item Title/Subject: Park Building Review and Recommendations <br /> <br />GROVELAND PARK BUILDING <br /> <br />Background: <br />Bids for the Groveland Park Building Replacement Project were received on <br />Thursday, July 14, 2005 at City Hall. The bids were composed of the base bid to <br />perform the construction of the building and a bid alternate for the air conditioning <br />of the building. <br /> <br />A total of two (2) bids were received for this project. The low bid of $289,700.00 <br />was submitted by Unicorp, Incorporated of Saint Paul Minnesota. The bid <br />alternate for air conditioning was $7,000.00. <br /> <br />A complete bid summary follows: <br /> <br />BIDDER’S NAME BASE BID BID ALTERNATE <br />Unicorp, Incorporated $289,700 $7,000 <br />Meisinger Construction $302,000 $5,500 <br /> <br />The engineer's estimate was $227,000 -- 27.6% less than the lowest actual bid. <br /> <br />On July 25, 2005, the bids were presented to the City Council. It was <br />recommended that, should the City Council wish to proceed with this project, the <br />City should utilize the construction services of TKDA to oversee the project and <br />ensure that the contractor adheres to the plans and specifications. TKDA had <br />submitted a letter of agreement in the amount of $14,000.00 to provide these <br />services. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
