Item No. 09B <br />Type of Business:CB <br />Meeting Date: February 23, 2004 <br />WK: Work Session; PH: Public Hearing; <br />CA: Consent Agenda; CB: Council Business <br />City Administrative Review: ______ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Desaree Crane, Administrative Assistant <br />Item Title/Subject: Consideration of Resolution 6198 Hiring Jodi Salmonson as the <br />City Receptionist <br />Date of Report: February 23, 2004 <br /> <br /> <br />On November 24, 2003, the Council gave authorization to Staff to advertise and fill the position of <br />Receptionist for the City. The position was advertised and staff received approximately 70 <br />applications. Eight candidates were selected for interviews. A panel of three employees conducted <br />the initial interviews and the City Administrator conducted the second interviews. After testing and <br />conducting all interviews, it is recommended that Jodi Salmonson be hired for the position. <br /> <br />Ms. Salmonson’s has a background as a Accounting Clerk/Secretary for the City of Lexington and as <br />an Accounts Receivable Specialist for American Guidance Service. Ms. Salmonson’s background <br />for the City of Lexington included, utility billing, cash receipting, customer service, answering <br />phones, formatting/drafting letters and worked on a variety of Microsoft Office computer software. <br />As an Accounts Receivable Specialist with American Guidance Service, her background included <br />cash receipting, and collection of receivables. <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Council adopt the following compensation schedule for Ms. <br />Salmonson: <br /> <br />Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 <br />$11.60/HR $12.33/HR $13.05/hr $13.78/HR $14.51/HR <br /> <br /> <br />• Step 1 to start <br />• Step 2 after six months pending satisfactory performance <br />• Step 3 after one year pending satisfactory performance <br />• Step 4 after two years pending satisfactory performance <br />• Step 5 after three years pending satisfactory performance <br /> <br />Pending City Council approval and satisfactory Criminal Background Check, Ms. Salmonson would <br />begin employment with the City Monday, March 8, 2004. Ms. Salmonson, if hired, would be a <br />member of the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Unit and all personnel policies would apply normally. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Approve Resolution 6198 Hiring Jodi Salmonson as the Receptionist for the City of Mounds View. <br /> <br />Respectfully Submitted <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Desaree M.
