RESOLUTION NO. 6218 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />City of Mounds View Resolution of Commitment to Resolving Human Rights and <br />Terrorism Issues in the Community <br /> <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View has a shared interest with the Mounds <br />View School District and the cities of Arden Hills, New Brighton, North Oaks, Roseville, <br />Shoreview, and Vadnais Heights, in human rights challenges within our communities, <br />including threats of terrorism and racism; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the recent bomb threats and racial incidents in the Mounds View <br />School District illustrate the challenges facing us; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View commend the Mounds View School District <br />for taking swift and sustained action in response to these acts of terrorism and racism; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View, Arden Hills, New Brighton, North Oaks, <br />Roseville, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights, and Mounds View School District must continue <br />to unite and jointly speak out against such acts of terrorism and racism. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Mounds View is <br />committed to individual, joint, constructive, and peaceful responses to these acts of <br />terrorism and racism in our communities; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there are no easy <br />formulas to eliminate both terrorism or racism, the City will continue to work together <br />with the surrounding communities, and with appropriate law enforcement agencies to <br />protect the well-being of every person subject to such threats; and <br /> <br /> We hereby commit ourselves and our honor to the effort to eliminate terrorism <br />and racism and to protect the freedom and safety of each person at the Mounds View <br />Schools and in our communities. <br /> <br />Dated this 22nd day of March, 2004. <br /> <br /> <br />___________________________________ <br />Jerry Linke, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />___________________________________ <br />Kurt Ulrich, City Administrator <br /> <br />(seal)
