Mounds View City Council March 22, 2004 <br />Regular Meeting Page 3 <br /> <br />the Department’s 60 years of existence they have not pulled a person out of a fire and had them 1 <br />live. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Fire Chief Zikmund commended the police officers and fire fighters for their efforts at the scene 4 <br />indicating that the two fire fighters chose to enter a working structure fire without a hose line in 5 <br />order to save the boy who was within a couple of minutes of death. He finished his comments by 6 <br />saying that there was no fire death today due to the efforts of the fire fighters at the scene. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Mayor Linke asked for more information on the officials on scene so that the City could present 9 <br />them with an award for their heroism and life saving efforts. 10 <br /> 11 <br />6. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS 12 <br /> 13 <br />A. Resolution 6218, Commitment to Resolving Human Rights and Terrorism 14 <br />Issues in the Community 15 <br /> 16 <br />City Administrator Ulrich indicated this Resolution came out of a joint meeting with the School 17 <br />District concerning vandalism at Mounds View High and Irondale that appears to be racially 18 <br />motivated and threatening in nature. 19 <br /> 20 <br />City Administrator Ulrich read Resolution 6218, a Resolution of Commitment to Resolving 21 <br />Human Rights and Terrorism Issues in the Community. 22 <br /> 23 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Stigney. To Approve Resolution 6218, a Resolution of 24 <br />Commitment to Resolving Human Rights and Terrorism Issues in the Community. 25 <br /> 26 <br /> Ayes – 3 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 27 <br /> 28 <br />7. JUST AND CORRECT CLAIMS 29 <br /> 30 <br /> A. Just and Correct Claims 31 <br /> 32 <br />Council Member Stigney asked for clarification of the payment to the North Suburban Cable 33 <br />Commission. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Finance Director Hansen explained that it is the payment that the City makes to the cable 36 <br />television commission in exchange for the programming and support that they provide to the 37 <br />City’s cable television department. He further noted that the money comes out of the franchise 38 <br />fees. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Council Member Stigney asked whether the City retains some franchise fees or if it all goes out. 41 <br /> 42 <br />Finance Director Hansen indicated the amount in the fund is $75,000 to $80,000 and this is only 43 <br />$19,888. 44 <br /> 45
