• <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> MEMO <br /> To: Mounds View Planning Commission, <br /> From: Rick Jopke, Community Development Director <br /> Subject: Billboards <br /> Date: November 12, 1999 <br /> As I previously indicated to you the City Council has asked that the staff and Planning <br /> Commission look into and make recommendations concerning ordinance amendments to the sign <br /> ordinance to allow billboards in certain areas of the community. <br /> The Planning Commission on November 3, 1999 reviewed a proposed ordinance which would <br /> amend Chapter 1008 of the City Code to allow billboards in certain areas of the community by <br /> • conditional use permit and would set standards which billboards must meet. At that meeting the <br /> Planning Commission reviewed the proposed ordinance and directed staff to prepare a resolution <br /> for Planning Commission consideration that would recommend that the City Council not pass the <br /> proposed ordinance. I have attached a draft resolution(Resolution No. 597-99) for Planning <br /> Commission consideration at the November 17, 1999 meeting. The draft resolution has been <br /> reviewed and approved by the City Attorney's office. <br /> REQUESTED ACTION: It is requested that the Planning Commission complete its discussion of <br /> the attached draft ordinance and pass a resolution recommending approval or denial of the <br /> proposed ordinance. <br /> N:\DATA\GROUPS\COMDEV\PLANCOMM\11-17-99 billboard report.doc <br /> • <br />
