First Reading of Ordinance 741, an Ordinance to amend Title 400 of the City 14 <br />Code regarding the Appointment and Terms of the Planning and Zoning 15 <br />Commission, Police Civil Service Commission, Economic Development 16 <br />Commission and the Parks and Recreation Commission. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Mayor Linke stated the part regarding the Police Civil Service Commission, should read that 19 <br />each member shall be appointed by the City Council, and to scratch, “based on recommendation 20 <br />of the Police Civil Service Commission.” 21 <br /> 22 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Linke/Marty. To adopt the first reading of Ordinance 741, and to amend it 23 <br />to incorporate the change, “Each member shall be appointed by the Council,” and deleting the 24 <br />rest of the sentence. 25 <br /> 26 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 27 <br /> 28 <br />I. Resolution 6285 Authorizing the Submittal of a Letter to Ramsey County 29 <br />Requesting Financial Assistance for the Silver Lake Road Sidewalk Project 30 <br /> 31 <br />Council Member Marty stated he had had a conversation with Greg and Curt to suggest adding 32 <br />more terminology in the resolution directed toward health, safety, and welfare as there is no safe 33 <br />way for pedestrians, elderly, or handicapped children to traverse, so that is how this came about. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Mayor Linke left the room. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Public Works Director Lee passed out a revised Resolution 6285, which added two whereas 38 <br />clauses as follows: “Whereas, a sidewalk will promote a safe pedestrian corridor along Silver 39 <br />Lake Road to aid in the health, safety, and welfare of the community, and, whereas, said sidewalk 40 <br />will provide continuity of the county’s pedestrian corridor by connecting the existing system.” 41 <br /> 42 <br />MOTION/SECOND. Stigney/Gunn. To adopt revised Resolution 6285. 43 <br /> 44 <br />Ayes – 4 Nays –0 Motion carried. 45
