Mounds View City Council June 14, 2004 <br />Regular Meeting Page 13 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Council Member Stigney asked what is being proposed to come in there. Economic 2 <br />Development Director Backman stated the interest has been very good amongst the development 3 <br />community, and he has had conversations with four parties so far. One of the choices was for a 4 <br />restaurant. There was a discussion regarding recovering the City’s costs that were invested in the 5 <br />project. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Sam Sheroky, stated he is relocating to Minnesota and has the other purchase agreement for this 8 <br />property. He stated he wishes to improve the business as a gas station, and that he has a closing 9 <br />date for the following day. He stated he has his tax sales number, his permits, and licensing, and 10 <br />that all the preparations have been made to open the business. 11 <br /> 12 <br />MOTION/SECOND. Marty/Quick. To waive the reading and approve Resolution 6282. 13 <br /> 14 <br />There was further discussion regarding the matter wherein Mayor Linke and Council Member 15 <br />Stigney stated they would not support the City buying the property. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Rick Wyatt stated his support for Mr. Sheroky buying the existing business, rather than the City 18 <br />buying it and demolishing it. 19 <br /> 20 <br /> Ayes –2(Marty/Quick) Nays-3 (Gunn/Linke/Stigney) Motion failed. 21 <br /> 22 <br />K. Resolution 6235 Approving a Gasoline and Tobacco License for Gas for Less 23 <br />located at 2525 Highway 10 24 <br /> 25 <br />MOTION/SECOND. Marty/Stigney. To approve Resolution 6235. 26 <br /> 27 <br /> Ayes-5 Nays-0 Motion carried. 28 <br /> 29 <br />L. 800 MHz Communications System 30 <br /> 31 <br />Police Chief Sommer stated the entire project is estimated at $35.65 million. He stated the 32 <br />Ramsey County Board of Commissioners has acted to implement the 800 MHz Communications 33 <br />System in Ramsey County, and that Anoka and Hennepin Counties have gone to that system, as 34 <br />well as other counties. He stated the Minnesota Highway Patrol is on the system. He stated there 35 <br />has been a communication problem in emergency situations, and this system will eliminate that. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Police Chief Sommer stated the project is moving forward, and the cost to the City of Mounds 38 <br />View has not yet been determined. He stating dispatching services are currently contracted 39 <br />through Ramsey County. He stated that staff recommends submitting a letter to Ramsey County 40 <br />stating that we would like the current level of service to continue. 41 <br /> 42 <br />Mayor Linke and Council Member Marty stated the letter looks good, but to change the date, and 43 <br />send it. 44 <br /> 45
