In an effort to receive new bids and complete the Mounds View Manufactured <br />Home Community Second Access Project this year, Staff will be sending letters <br />to the firms that submitted bids for the total Hidden Hollow / Mounds View <br />Manufactured Home Community Second Access Project to solicit quotes for just <br />the Mounds View Manufactured Home Community Second Access portion of the <br />project. Some subcontractor’s of the original bidders, as well as other <br />construction firms, were also contacted and requested to submit a quote <br /> <br />Getting quotes, as opposed to bids, is allowable by state statute because the <br />estimated cost of the project is less than $50,000 (Engineer’s Estimate $46,000). <br /> <br />Sealed quotes for the Mounds View Manufactured Home Community Second <br />Access portion of the project were received and opened at 12:00 P.M. Monday, <br />September 13, 2004. The results of the quotes are as follows: <br /> <br />Bid Review - A total of eight (8) solicitations for quotes were made for this <br />project. As of the deadline set for 12:00 P.M. Monday, September 13, 2004, a <br />total of four (4) quotes were received for this project. A complete quote summary <br />is as follows: <br /> <br />Contractor’s Name Total Quote Amount <br />Hardrives Inc. $ 47,075.25 <br />Northdale Construction $ 68,764.13 <br />North Valley Construction $ 57,822.50 <br />Three Rivers Construction $ 48,156.20 <br /> <br />Engineer’s estimate $46,000.00 <br />Previous Redstone Construction bid $41,721.70 <br /> <br />Barbarossa & Sons Inc., Penn Contracting, Redstone Construction, Northwest <br />Asphalt Inc. were not interested in providing a quote. <br /> <br />The low quote was submitted by Hardrives Incorporated with a total amount of <br />$47,075.25. This is $5,353.55 more than the low bid submitted by Redstone <br />Construction before the stipulation of paying prevailing wages consistent with the <br />Davis Bacon guidelines was added and the project was re-bid. <br /> <br />With an estimated 27% added onto the construction portion of this project, the <br />total estimated cost is: <br /> $47,075.25 Construction cost <br /> $12,710.00 (27% for engineering, fiscal, and administration fees) <br /> $59,785.25 Total Estimated Project Cost <br /> - $30,000.00 minus CDGB Grant <br /> $29,785.25 Remaining Amount to be funded by the City and MVMHC <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
