Item No. 9D <br />Meeting Date: November 8, 2004 <br />Type of Business: CA <br />WK: Work Session; PH: Public Hearing; <br />CA: Consent Agenda; CB: Council Business <br />City Administrator Review _______ <br /> City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Tracy Juell, Administrative Assistant <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution No. 6388 Approving a Contract Award <br />for the Public Works Department Uniforms <br /> <br />Background: <br />As per the Public Works Collective Bargaining Unit Contract, the City is required <br />to provide uniforms for the members of the Public Works Bargaining unit. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />The current three-year contract with Cintas Uniforms recently expired and Staff <br />received bids from three companies providing uniform, towel and rug service. <br />They are as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />Vendor Per Employee <br />Uniform Cost <br /> (10 Employees) <br />Rugs and Towels <br />Cost* <br />Aramark Uniforms $1,071.20/year <br />Total $10,712.00 <br />$1,317.00/year <br />Cintas Uniforms $1,561.56/year <br />Total $18,738.72 <br />$3,103.20/year <br />AmeriPride <br />Uniforms <br />$1,677.00/year <br />Total $20,124.00 <br />$4,108.32/year <br /> <br />(The City currently pays Cintas $14,000.00/year for uniforms, rugs and towels.) <br /> <br />*The rug and towel costs are for the Public Works Facility and they include the <br />following: <br />(10) Rugs, (100) mechanic rags (red rags) and soil lockup charges, (10) glass <br />towels, and service charge. <br /> <br />Rugs are delivered bi-weekly and the uniforms, towels, and rags along with the <br />soil lockup and service charges are weekly. (Each employee is supplied with 11 <br />changes of clothing, which allow a continual inventory as they are laundered <br />weekly.)
