•
Metro East
ra- Development Partnership
November 15, 2002
City of Mounds View
Attn: Mr. Aaron Backman
2401 Highway 10
Mounds View, MN 55112
Dear Mr. Backman:
Please find enclosed an invoice for your 2003 Metro East Development Partnership investment
As you may know, MEDP has recently undergone some significant changes that we feel provide
exciting opportunities to improve and expand economic development services to benefit the
entire metro-wide region.
This month, MEDP has entered into an alliance partnership with the Minneapolis Regional
Chamber of Commerce. The Alliance was created to pursue a regional collaborative model for
economic development that would seek to marshal the combined resources of all relevant
• organizations, communities and businesses under an umbrella of a shared economic development
vision. Our goal is to create a regional organization able to compete more effectively with other
metropolitan centers across the U.S., increase new business leads and client referrals to investor
companies and communities, and aggressively promote the region as a place to do business.
Initially,MEDP will continue to provide site location assistance, business information services,
and economic development marketing services, promoting our investor businesses and
communities. Over time, as participation in the Partnership grows, we see an opportunity to
expand services and pursue new initiatives that would best impact economic growth for the
metro-wide region.
Over the next few weeks, I will be calling you to arrange a time to meet to get your input
regarding the alliance and to answer any questions you may have regarding our plans and
strategies for the future.
We realize that we are pursuing ambitious goals, however more and more area businesses,
communities and organizations are telling us that the time is right to combine our resources
region-wide to create a stronger, more effective economic development partnership. We believe
that with your continued support of regional economic development, we are on track to make this
initiative a success.
411/
332 Minnesota Street Suite N-205 Saint Paul,MN 55101 651/224-EAST Fax:651/223-5484 Web Site:www.medp.org
