Item 6A—2009 EDC Priorities
January 16 2009 EDC Meeting
Discussion
It is now time to discuss the EDC's 2009 priorities. Below are status reports about the
EDC's 2008 priority projects:
1. Development/redevelopment along County Hwy 10 Corridor
a. Premium Stop Redevelopment Area: The EDA recently began discussions
with a developer to redevelop a five-parcel/six-acre area located at
northwest corner of County Road 10 and Woodale Drive.
b. Saturn Dealership: The Mounds View Saturn dealership is still for sale.
As of January 13, 2009, Saturn has not applied for their building permit for
their new facility in Blaine.
c. Silver View Plaza: City staff recently inquired with property owner Kraus-
Anderson about their revitalization plans (if any) for 2009. City staff will
report any news at the EDC meeting.
d. Trailway connections to businesses: Construction of trail Segments 1-5
are scheduled to begin this Spring. Segments 1-5 are located along the
south side of County Road 10 between Eastwood Road and Woodale
• Drive and are part of a comprehensive trailway plan approved by the City
Council in August 2002.
e. PAK building: There is nothing new to report. City staff added a
Webpage to the City's Website to promote the property.
f. Establish partnerships among neighboring cities in order to strengthen the
County Hwy 10 corridor (i.e. potential name change for County Hwy 10):
Risdall Marketing Group will report the results of the business
owners/operators survey at the February 2, 2009 Council Work Session.
One of the survey questions was about renaming County Road 10.
g. Knollwood Place & Johnson Property: In April 2008, the City Council
denied the final plat and the rezoning request for Knollwood Place. In
October 2008, the Council approved the Select Senior Living senior
housing project for the Johnson Property.
2. Skyline Motel Redevelopment: City staff promoted the site to several developers in
2008, none of which were interested in the site due to the size of the property,
adjacent properties (manufactured homes and industrial park) and redevelopment
costs. City staff added a Webpage to the City's Website to promote the property.
•
