However, we were willing to work with
Mounds View as the issue seemed important to you. It is clear to us that we
wasted our time and energy. It is our contention that if we were to ask our
property owners their preference for a name, it would be Spring Lake Park
Boulevard and Blaine's property owners would choose Blaine Boulevard
however, it is not their responsibility to consider the bigger picture even when
we all appear to agree that "it would be advantageous to have one name for
the roadway as it passes through several north metro communities ...that could
and should serve as a common thread to identify and represent the north
suburban area as a whole."
In your letter you state that in your discussions with your City Council, "it
was acknowledged that a consistent name through our three communities
would be preferable however, it seems apparent that such a consensus may
not be reached." It seems apparent to us that a consensus may not be reached
because the City of Mounds View had already decided on a name and does
not wish to pursue other choices.
June10,2005
Mayor
Harley Wells
Counciimembers
Jeanne Mason-
BarbamCarlson
-
Timothy C.
