Growing up in rural Wisconsin, my father owned a professional office/service and my mother <br />owned a retail business in a community that was facing farm failures and was transitioning to a more <br />tourist economy. <br />Employment, Occupation or Other Relevant Experience: I work as an Executive Assistant;Office <br />Manager for the University of Minnesota Extension Center for Community Vitality. Our programs are <br />designed to enhance community's economic strength, civic empowerment, technological capacity, and <br />social capital as Minnesota communities face changes in demographics, social change, technological <br />capacity, etc. As I've been employed in this area it has been interesting to have exposure to some of <br />the interventions our center has had with other communities that trying new approaches to their <br />economic development issues, especially retail and business concerns. <br />Memberships, Accomplishments or Other Qualifications: I have served as past chair of the Extension <br />Civil Service Consultative Committee. I am a graduate of UW -River Falls with a BS in English and <br />Professional Writing for Business and Government. <br />Please state your reason for wanting to serve with this group: In my work environment, I am exposed <br />to working with communities throughout the state. I see Mounds View as having great potential to <br />continue thrive in the 21" century but like most 1 s' ring suburbs, care must be taken that it continues to <br />be attractive to incoming residents. <br />The City of Mounds Views committee to the policy hat all persons shall have access to its programs, facilities and <br />employment without regard for race, ethnicity, age or physical abilities. <br />
