Draft EDC Minutes <br />January 21, 2011 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />Chair Johnson said there is a pasta dinner and silent auction on Sunday, January 30, 2011 <br />at the American Legion in Fridley. Proceeds will benefit the Irondale High School All Night <br />Party. <br />Commissioner Meehlhause recognized the Irondale Nordic Boys Ski Team for being ranked <br />8th or 9th in the State, which is the first time in history for the school. He added that one of <br />the 9th grade girl skiers is ranked within the top ten in the State. <br />8. REPORTS OF STAFF <br />City staff provided the EDC with updates on the following items: <br />Mounds View Home Improvement Loans <br />Ms. Steinmetz reminded the EDC that the EDA approved four new loan programs in <br />November 2010. In January, the EDA approved the Greater Metropolitan Housing <br />Corporation to be the administer of the loans. <br /> B-2, Limited Business Zoning District Amendments <br />Ms. Steinmetz said these potential amendments would allow more intense restaurants and <br />auto parts stores to be allowed in B-2 zoning districts within the City. <br />Select Senior Living Project <br />The developer purchased the three properties for this project in mid-December 2010. Once <br />the Housing Revenue Bonds are sold for this project, construction will begin. <br />Mounds View Business Council <br />This is a new group that was formed by the Chamber. It’s a group of Mounds View <br />businesses that get together monthly to discuss important business issues. Similar groups <br />exist in the other Chamber member cities. There will be a speaker at each meeting, such <br />as the Police Chief or the Fire Chief. The next meeting is February 9th. Contact Chamber <br />President Tim Roche to be added to the meeting notice list. <br />Commissioner Belting thanked Commissioner Helgemoe for hosting the Business Council <br />meetings at Western Bank. He added that it’s nice to meet Mounds View business owners <br />that he hasn’t met before. <br /> Mounds View Business News <br />The January EDC meeting packet included the first two issues of the City’s new business <br />newsletter called Mounds View Business News. The newsletter is a way for the City is <br />trying to help businesses connect with one other. Commissioner Wagner-Harkonen asked <br />that the EDC be added to the newsletter distribution list. <br /> Available Business Sites in Mounds View <br />Ms. Steinmetz clarified that the list does not include redevelopment sites but that she’ll <br />include them in future EDC meeting packets. She said the new entry on the list is Mounds <br />View’s Medtronic distribution space located in Mounds View Business Park South. <br />OTHER <br />Commissioner Belting welcomed new EDC member Jim Paron and said that Jim’s insight <br />about the redevelopment of County Rd 10 will be very helpful to the Commission because <br />Mr. Paron’s home is located on the highway.
