<br />Item #: 6B <br />Meeting Date: May 20, 2011 <br />Type of Business: EDC <br />Administrator Review: ____ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To: Economic Development Commission <br />From: Heidi Steinmetz, Economic Development Specialist <br />Item Title/Subject: Discuss Possible EDC Resolution Regarding the Development <br />of the Proposed Minnesota Vikings Multi-Purpose Facility on <br />the TCAAP Site in Arden Hills <br /> <br />Background <br />Below is a sample resolution that the Twin Cities Gateway Board of Directors considered at <br />their May 17th meeting regarding the development of the proposed Minnesota Vikings multi- <br />purpose facility on the TCAAP site in Arden Hills. Mounds View is a member of Twin Cities <br />Gateway, which is the local Convention and Visitors Bureau. The Board did not pass the <br />resolution. <br /> <br />Sample Resolution <br />“Whereas Twin Cities Gateway is the regional visitors’ bureau representing the member cities of Anoka, <br />Blaine, Coon Rapids, Fridley, Ham Lake, Lino Lakes, Mounds View, New Brighton, and Shoreview in the <br />northern suburbs of the Minneapolis – St. Paul metropolitan area and <br /> <br />Whereas the mission of Twin Cities Gateway is to promote travel and visitation into and throughout the region, <br />as well as to stimulate the economic vitality of its member cities and <br /> <br />Whereas the proposed Minnesota Vikings multi-purpose stadium facility on the Twin Cities Army Ammunition <br />Plant (TCAAP) in the community of Arden Hills will create year around jobs, increase visitation into and <br />throughout the region, stimulate incremental economic development, commercial re-development, and result <br />in transportation enhancements, now <br /> <br />Be it resolved that on this day, May 17, 2011, the Board of Directors of Twin Cities Gateway supports the <br />development of the proposed Minnesota Vikings multi-purpose facility on the TAACP site in Arden Hills, <br />located in Ramsey County, Minnesota. <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion/Recommendation <br />As Mounds View’s advisory Economic Development Commission, the EDC may want to <br />discuss passing a possible resolution regarding the proposed development of a Vikings <br />Stadium at the TCAAP site in Arden Hills. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />___________________________ <br />Heidi Steinmetz <br />Economic Development Specialist
