Discuss County Road 10 Corridor Improvements <br />Economic Development Specialist Heidi Steinmetz said that on January 3, 2012, the City <br />Council asked that the EDC recommend a list of County Road improvements with <br />associated cost estimates that could be implemented as early as this summer. On February <br />17, 2012, the EDC briefly discussed County Rd 10 beautification items but tabled the <br />discussion due to time limitations. <br /> <br />Chair Torri Johnson confirmed with Finance Director Mark Beer that the City’s amount of <br />unobligated TIF is about $900,000 and that any TIF amounts listed in the City’s Five-Year <br />Financial Plan were already removed from the $900,000 figure. Ms. Steinmetz said that all <br />items in the Five-Year Plan related to County Rd 10 improvements are listed on page one of <br />the EDC’s staff report for this morning’s meeting. <br /> <br />The EDC discussed a list of County Rd 10 improvement ideas and prioritized the list in the <br />following manner: <br /> <br />1) Mow (rough cut) medians & Right-of-Way approx. 6 times per season and trash cleanup <br />2) Plant trees along Right-of-Way <br />3) Property acquisition & demolition <br />4) Complete remaining trailway segments <br />5) Highway signs <br />6) Decorative banners with City logo for existing trailway light posts <br />7) Entrance monument signs <br /> <br />The following County Rd 10 improvement items were not prioritized by the EDC: <br /> <br /> Paint the semaphore structures (stop lights) <br /> Plant hearty shrubs in medians <br /> Upgrade private business signs <br /> Install decorative fencing <br /> <br />6. REPORTS OF COMMISSIONERS <br />Commissioner Helgemoe summarized the first meeting of the County Rd 10 Renaming <br />Taskforce; that the Taskforce agreed that the signage on 35W and County Rd 10 is a focal <br />point. He added that MnDOT’s Kent Barnard will be speaking at the next Mounds View <br />Business Council meeting on April 11th at the Community Center. <br /> <br />7. REPORTS OF STAFF <br />Ms. Steinmetz reported that Mounds View Best Steak House had closed. She announced <br />that Rep. Tom Tillberry will be speaking at the next Mounds View Business Council meeting <br />on March 14th at 7:30am at the Community Center. She added that the May Business <br />Council speaker will be Greg Johnson of Coventry Senior Living. Finally, Ms. Steinmetz <br />announced that a very large event will be held at The Mermaid in Mounds View in late June, <br />which is the MN Street Rod Association’s registration for their annual Back to the 50s car <br />show. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
