County Road 10 Beautification Ideas Ranked in Order of Importance by the Mounds View EDC 3/9/2012 Beautification Idea Funding Mechanism Estimated Cost 1. Mow (rough cut) medians & Right-of-Way approx. 6 times per season The Ramsey County Public Works maintenance dept. mows County Rd 10 in Mounds View once a year. Mowing would be paid out of the City’s General Fund. $18,000 per year for Mounds View Public Works staff time/equip. Source: Public Works Director Nick DeBar 1. Trash cleanup (ongoing) The Ramsey County Public Works maintenance dept. does not pick up trash in the County Rd 10 median. Trash cleanup would be paid out of the City’s General Fund. The City would need to hire a private firm for trash cleanup. The Mounds View Lions Club picks up trash twice or sometimes three times per year through Ramsey County’s former Adopt-a-Highway program. They are not allowed to pick up trash in the median. The Lions will be picking up trash again on April 26, 2012.2. Property acquisition & demolition This could be paid for through the EDA’s unobligated TIF. Costs for property acquisition and demolition will vary depending on the property. 4. Highway signs Street signs would be paid out of the City’s General Fund. $15,000−20,000 Source: 2004 City Administrator Report to Council for replacing local road signs to reflect a County Rd 10 name change. MnDOT would also charge the City to update signage on 35W. 6. Decorative banners with City logo for existing trailway light posts $1,000 The EDA’s 2012 advertising budget could potentially be used for banners.$3,300 (50 banners & brackets) There are 110 total existing light posts.
