Item #: 5C <br />Meeting Date: January 20, 2017 <br />Type of Business: EDC <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Economic Development Commission <br />From: Brian Beeman, Business Development Coordinator <br />Item Title/Subject: Review Applications to the Economic Development <br />Commission To Compete Term of Royal Dahlstrom, Make <br />Appointment Recommendation to the EDA <br />Background: <br />The Economic Development Commission is comprised of seven members—three <br />business representatives and four resident representatives. Each member serves a <br />three year term which are staggered to ensure continuity of service. <br />The term of Royal Dahlstrom, Resident Representative has been open since his <br />resignation from the EDC November 8, 2016. <br />Discussion: <br />After posting notice online, through social media, the Cable TV channel, and in the City <br />newspaper, applications were received from Teresa Muckala and Dennis Farmer for the <br />Resident Representative to fill the opening left by Royal Dahlstrom whose term ends <br />December 31, 2017. Mrs. Muckala has been a Mounds View resident for 16 years and <br />is a Business Development Market Intelligence employee at Medtronic. Mr. Farmer has <br />been a Resident of Mounds View for 12 years and is a Research Analyst employee at <br />the Metropolitan Council. <br />Recommendation: <br />Review the applications and make a motion recommending to the EDA to appoint a <br />Resident Representatives to the EDC with terms beginning January 1, 2017 and <br />expiring December 31, 2019. <br />________________ <br />Brian Beeman <br />Business Development Coordinator <br />Attachments: <br />1.Application of Teresa Muckala. <br />2.Application of Dennis Farmer
