<br /> <br />Item No: 6A <br />Meeting Date: January 23, 2017 <br />Type of Business: EDA <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Economic Development Authority <br />From: James Ericson, Executive Director <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 17-EDA-298, Appointing a Member to the <br />Economic Development Commission (EDC) <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The Economic Development Commission (EDC) is comprised of seven members – three <br />business representatives and four resident representatives. At the previous EDA meeting on <br />January 9, 2017, Dan Larson and Laurie Shoop were reappointed to terms expiring on December <br />31, 2019. <br /> <br />Royal Dahlstrom resigned from his EDC seat on November 8, 2016, leaving one year remaining <br />on his term. (This EDC term expires on December 17, 2017.) <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Staff recently received two additional applications. The EDC will be reviewing these applications <br />at their meeting on January 20, 2017, and plans to recommend an applicant to fill the “resident” <br />seat vacated by Royal Dahlstrom. The applications of the two recent candidates are attached <br />for EDA reference. <br /> <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the EDA consider the EDC recommendation and make an appointment <br />to fill the remaining year on the vacant seat.
