Continued Review of Possible City Taglines. 49 <br /> 50 <br />Economic Development Specialist Steinmetz reviewed the past consideration of City taglines 51 <br />and advised that the EDA did not support “Two words. One Community.” She reported that the 52 <br />EDC prefers taglines containing three words starting with the letter “c,” “Connecting You Home” 53 <br />or, “Connecting Careers to Home.” A Planning Commissioner had suggested: “Where 54 <br />Community Matters” and a City staff person suggested: “What a great place to be,” and “More 55 <br />than just a great location.” 56 <br /> 57 <br />Economic Development Specialist Steinmetz presented the e-mail staff had received from 58 <br />Valerie Amundson’s that included eight suggested taglines. Ms. Amundson had also commented 59 <br />on the importance of having a unique tagline and holding a contest for residents or students to 60 <br />submit their tagline ideas. 61 <br /> 62 <br />Economic Development Specialist Steinmetz advised that Patrick Bettenburg is no longer with 63 <br />Risdall Marketing so Kevin Deshler will present the Marketing Communications Plan on June 8, 64 <br />2009. 65 <br /> 66 <br />President Flaherty thanked Mr. Bettenburg for his assistance during this process and wished him 67 <br />well. He also thanked Ms. Amundson for her suggestions. 68 <br /> 69 <br />Commissioner Mueller stated her agreement with Ms. Amundson that the EDA should not rush 70 <br />into a decision and that the tagline, as suggested by Vice President Stigney, should be 71 <br />characteristic of Mounds View. She supported holding a tagline contest to get other ideas. 72 <br /> 73 <br />Commissioner Gunn stated she will talk about a contest with the English teachers at Irondale 74 <br />High School to get their ideas. Community Development Director Roberts suggested also getting 75 <br />input from the DECA Program. 76 <br /> 77 <br />Vice President Stigney stated none of the taglines on the list really “jump out” at him so maybe 78 <br />more tagline suggestions are needed to find one that is really unique to Mounds View. He 79 <br />suggested taglines that address the future, such as “Become Part of our Future” or “You Can 80 <br />Become Part of our Future.” 81 <br /> 82 <br />Executive Director Ericson agreed that none of the taglines suggested to this point are truly 83 <br />unique and noted there is no rush to make this decision. He suggested this be a summer project 84 <br />with the City making a decision in the fall of the year.
