Resolution 06-EDA-219 Authorizing the Acquisition of the Premium Stop 49 <br />Property Located at 2390 County Road 10 Consistent with the Terms of the 50 <br />Approved Purchase Agreement 51 <br /> 52 <br />Community Development Director Ericson asked that the EDA tabled action on this item until 53 <br />the next meeting. He said he and the City Attorney’s office have been working out details about 54 <br />the letter of closure. He explained that there are statements in the letter of closure that there is 55 <br />some contamination that exists on the site, which was noted by the City’s consultants. He 56 <br />explained that the MPCA acknowledges there is slight contamination. 57 <br /> 58 <br />Director Ericson said he and the City Attorney are working on the best means to acquire the 59 <br />property. He said the property looks like a good deal, however, he does not want to end up with 60 <br />hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of burden for clean-up costs. Director Ericson asked that 61 <br />the EDA wait until the next meeting to take on the issue. 62 <br /> 63 <br />MOTION/SECOND: FLAHERTY/GUNN. To postpone action on Resolution 06-EDA-219 64 <br />until the next EDA meeting on Monday, June 26. 65 <br /> 66 <br />Ayes – 3 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 67 <br /> 68 <br />8. REPORTS 69 <br /> 70 <br />Economic Development Coordinator Backman presented a report about the progress of 71 <br />Medtronic. He stated the northern building is at eight stories, the central building is at two stories 72 <br />and the south building has footings. He said construction is definitely progressing. He said on 73 <br />the east side of Coral C, there is a lot that has been leveled. He explained Medtronic will be 74 <br />putting in a temporary parking lot on the Blaine side during construction that will reduce traffic 75 <br />on Mounds View roads. He noted the parking lot will be there for about a year and a half to two 76 <br />years. 77 <br /> 78 <br />Coordinator Backman stated there will be a lot of concrete poured for the parking ramp. He said 79 <br />there may be a “Medtronic Webcam” on the top of the north building and if it is available, he 80 <br />will inform the EDA so citizens can have a “birds-eye-view” of construction online. He stated he 81 <br />will keep the EDA informed. 82 <br /> 83 <br />Coordinator Backman said around August, the first businesses will vacate and move to another 84 <br />location further north. He said both businesses will be moving farther north. 85 <br /> 86 <br />Coordinator Backman said in October, the bridge over 35W will come down and traffic will be 87
