Mounds View EDA June 26, 2006 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br /> <br /> 1 <br /> B. Review Mounds View Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Policy 2 <br /> 3 <br />Community Development Director Ericson suggested this action be deferred until the next EDA 4 <br />meeting since it is a potentially long discussion. 5 <br /> 6 <br />MOTION/SECOND: GUNN/STIGNEY. To postpone the review of the Mounds View Tax 7 <br />Increment Funding (TIF) Policy until the July 10th meeting. 8 <br /> 9 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 10 <br /> 11 <br />8. REPORTS 12 <br /> 13 <br />Economic Development Coordinator Backman said he attended the Economic Development 14 <br />Association of Minnesota, or EDAM, conference the past week where nine awards were 15 <br />presented to various projects. He stated the best business retention and expansion was to Red 16 <br />Wing, the Best Recruitment Project award went to Greater Mankato for the Wal-Mart 17 <br />distribution center, Best Redevelopment award was to Columbia Heights for Parkview, and 18 <br />Presidents Award for best overall project was awarded to Mounds View for the Medtronic 19 <br />project. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Economic Development Coordinator Backman presented the award to the EDA. He said past 22 <br />winners have included the Phalen Corridor in St. Paul, and stated Mounds View is in honored 23 <br />company for the award. He said it was a team effort on part of Council and other parties 24 <br />involved. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Economic Development Coordinator Backman explained the selection criteria and stated the 27 <br />City did well in all categories. He stated it is an honor to be recognized by peers on a statewide 28 <br />level. 29 <br /> 30 <br />9. NEXT EDA MEETING: Monday, July 10, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. 31 <br /> 32 <br />10.
