Mounds View EDA September 27, 2004
Regular Meeting Page 4

approval when they had bought it, and he would like to know what the residents want done with 130
the property. He stated he had done some sampling and received some frowns when he talked 131
about selling the golf course. He stated he couldn’t see spending this money without knowing 132
whether it was being spent wisely. 133
134
Commissioner Stigney stated he thought it was money well spent, and that it would offer a big 135
advantage to the tax base rather than draining it at a loss, and that that was one of the things that 136
they are there to look at, and he is all for proceeding with this. 137
138
Commissioner Marty stated that unless they move forward with this, they will not know what the 139
possibilities or ramifications are, and that he felt it was their responsibility to at least explore the 140
options available. 141
142
Commissioner Gunn stated she agreed with Commissioners Stigney and Marty. 143
144
President Linke stated that he was of the same mind as Commissioner Quick; however, he was 145
looking at the cost, and since they didn’t have a survey of that property, it would be a good idea 146
to get it anyway. He stated he had let everybody know how he felt about the other expenditures, 147
but he would be voting for this one. 148
149
Ayes-4 Nays-1 (Quick) Motion carried. 150
151
7. REPORTS 152
153
A. Update of the Status of the AUAR being undertaken by RLK (verbal report.) 154
155
Economic Development Coordinator Backman stated that the RLK team has been moving 156
forward with different aspects of the review or assessment process. He stated a traffic count is 157
ongoing for the different areas along County Road J., etc. He stated a meeting is being setting up 158
for all parties that would be interested in the potential improvements pertaining to the areas 159
including Coral Sea, County Road J, and the interchange of County Road J and 35W. 160
161
Economic Development Coordinator Backman stated he had just received the commercial 162
appraisal, and that it would be copied for the Commissioners. He stated that the appraisal for the 163
developed area of the golf course was just shy of $11 million. 164
165
8.
