Item No. 8B <br />Type of Business: CB <br />WK: Work Session; PH: Public Hearing; <br />CA: Consent Agenda; CB: Council Business City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Greg Lee, Director of Public Works <br /> <br />Item Title/Subject: Water Tower Rehabilitation Project <br /> Resolution No. 5942 Awarding the Construction <br />Contract Award <br />Meeting Date: February 10, 2003 <br /> <br />Background: <br />On January 13, 2003 City Council adopted Resolution No. 5932 approving the <br />plans and specifications and establishing a bid date for the Water Tower <br />Rehabilitation Project. <br /> <br />Bids for the Water Tower Rehabilitation Project were received at 10:00 a.m. on <br />Thursday, February 6, 2003 at City Hall. Copies of the bid tabulation for the <br />received bids are available upon request. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />The Water Tower Rehabilitation Project includes; minor interior structural repairs, <br />interior wet coating including surface preparation and coating application, interior <br />dry coating spot surface preparation and paint application as recommended, <br />exterior coating system including a complete power wash and spot surface <br />preparation and touch up paint application as prescribed. The engineers estimate <br />for this project is $43,000.00. <br /> <br />Bid Review - A total of four (4) bids were received for this project. The low bid of <br />$52,100.00 was submitted by Champion Coatings Incorporated of Lakeville <br />Minnesota. A bid bond for five percent (5%) of the bid amount was included with <br />the bid.
