RESOLUTION 5956 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE RENEWAL OF THE 2002-2003 SCHOOL RESOURCE <br />OFFICER AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITIES OF MOUNDS VIEW AND NEW BRIGHTON <br />AND ISD #621 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a School Resource Officer position was implemented at Irondale High <br />School in 1994 and the creation of this position has had a positive impact for the Mounds View <br />School District #621, and the cities of New Brighton and Mounds View, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a substantial percentage of the students in attendance at Irondale High <br />School reside in Mounds View; the current student population is as follows: <br /> <br />34% Mounds View residents <br />51% New Brighton residents <br />15% from other communities <br /> <br />WHEREAS, since the implementation of the School Resource Officer position at <br />Irondale HS, the City of Mounds View has shared the cost of training and assigning a New <br />Brighton Police Officer to Irondale High School as a School Resource Officer, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the annual cost of this position is based on total personnel expenses, <br />including benefits and other peripheral expenses, such as vehicle expense, associated with the <br />position, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the expense formula reflects the current student population percentage per <br />city, and the actual time the officer is assigned during the school year, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the total program costs are to be shared as follows: <br /> <br />50% paid by the School District #621 <br />30% paid by the City of New Brighton <br />20% paid by the City of Mounds View <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the cost to the City of Mounds View for this renewal period is expected to be <br />approximately $10,946.13. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council for the City of Mounds <br />View approves the renewal of the 2002-2003 School Resource officer agreement between the <br />cities of Mounds View and New Brighton and ISD#621. <br /> <br />Adopted this 24th day of February, 2003. <br /> <br /> <br /> ______________________________ <br /> Jerry Linke, Mayor <br /> <br />(ATTEST) <br /> _______________________________ <br /> James Ericson <br />Interim City Clerk/Administrator <br />(SEAL)
