Item No. 6A Type of Business: SB WK: Work Session; PH: Public Hearing; SB: Special Order of Business CA: Consent Agenda; CB: Council Business City of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Greg Lee, Director of Public Works Item Title/Subject: Resolution No. 5984 Approving a Step Increase for Michael Schnur of the Water Division of the Public Works Department Meeting Date: April 14, 2003 Background On June 1, 1997 Michael Schnur was hired as a Parks Intern for the City of Mounds View. In September of that year, he was hired as a Parks Seasonal Employee. On April 20, 1998, Michael Schnur was hired for a regular full-time position in the Sanitary Sewer Division of the Public Works Department. On March 10, 2003, Council authorized the appointment of Mr. Schnur to the Water Division of the Public Works Department Discussion Mr. Schnur is a member of the Public Works Collective Bargaining Unit. As such, Mr. Schnur is subject to the job classification system, as established in the Labor Agreement with the City of Mounds View. Based on the criteria set forth by the Labor Agreement with the Public Works Collective Bargaining Unit, Mr. Schnur is currently at the Level C pay scale, which is $18.92 per hour. On April 20, 2003, Mr. Schnur will qualify for Level D pay scale, which is currently established at $19.32 per hour. It should be noted that these rates are based on agreed amounts for 2002. The Public Works Collective Bargaining Unit is currently working with the City to update the Labor Agreement for 2003 and 2004. The Public Works Foreman has met with Mr. Schnur and conducted a formal performance review. Mr. Schnur meets or exceeds all of the job performance requirements for his position. The Public Works Director and Public Works Foreman recommend that Mr. Schnur be approved for the step increase from Level C to Level D in the Water Division of the Public Works Department.
