This <br />is done as part of the Joint Powers Agreement the City of Mounds View has with <br />the City of New Brighton. <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />On March 14, 2003 bids were received for the 2003 season. The bidding process <br />is set up to differentiate between two operational scenarios: one whereby vehicle <br />and equipment access is available to the site where the trees to be removed are <br />located, the other for cases where access with vehicles is not possible. <br /> <br />A total of four bids were received. A summary of the quotes is as follows: <br /> <br />Company Bid (with access) Bid (without access) <br />Precision Tree Service $11.00 / diameter inch $35.00 / diameter inch <br />Miller Tree Service $15.00 / diameter inch $15.68 / diameter inch <br />All Tree Service $13.00 / diameter inch $26.00 / diameter inch <br /> <br />The low bidder for trees with access was Precision Tree Service with a bid of <br />$11.00 / diameter inch. The low bidder for trees without access was Miller Tree <br />Service with a bid of $15.68 / diameter inch. Both companies have performed <br />work for the City in past years. Precision Tree Service was the low bidder for <br />sites with access in 2002 with a bid of $10.50 / diameter inch. Miller Tree Service <br />was the low bidder for sites without access in 2002 with a bid of $15.50 / <br />diameter inch. <br /> <br />The total amount of tree removal work contracted annually by the City of Mounds <br />View is typically in the range of $11,000 to $16,000. The 2003 budget has <br />$16,480 allocated for tree removal (account 100-4380-3520). <br />
